Friday Funny

Oh the perils of hen keeping! The other day I'd popped an egg in my jacket pocket then forgot about it and went off and did some gardening jobs for a while. When I'd finished I took off my gardening gloves and then put my hands in my pockets. Ugh, something cold and slimy was in one of them; it was then that I looked down and saw this: yes it had seeped all into my jumper and jeans and there was yolk dribbling down my legs......

Don't jump to conclusions - it's not true!

Just to prove I didn't pee myself!
Note Hallie getting into the picture as usual.

"You did WHAT with my egg?!!!"

Completely unrelated, but I came across this photo I took on 6th December last year:

And same-ish view taken this morning!!!

Amazing, isn't it?!

  1. Hello Millymollymandy!
Pretty amazing how you only felt the yoke running after you had finished the gardening! You must have been in a 100% zen mode! Did Hallie get to lick some of it?
The one year time lapse image of the bench and the lake proves that time has come to a halt since this summer! Now I will definitely have to come and visit the Chateau in this new micro climate!

I loved being here again, Millymollymandy!

    1. Hi Jan, thinking back, the leaves were about 2 weeks later opening up this spring than at least the last few years, due to the long cold spring. So maybe that's why they have lasted longer this year. The last couple of autumns have been mild too so it can't be that reason. However the leaves are dropping really fast now so by Xmas I know it will look bare (which is good, because I can't get into the 'zone', it doesn't feel like December!). :-)

As for the egg, I think it must have popped just before I finished up my gardening although I was wearing long johns so it had only just started to seep into them, that's why I didn't notice the wet patch on my jeans! lol it's so funny thinking back...

Thank you once again for visiting and here, have a nice slice of apple cake and a cuppa :-)

  2. I think I have done this half a dozen times now Mandy. The trick is not to tell anybody.

    1. I've never done it before, Carl! I just won't tell anyone the next time because it won't be so funny. :-)

  3. Yuck about the yolk :)
The hen doesn't look amused, Mandy, she's giving you the eye :)))
It's a cool idea to take pictures of the same spot in different seasons and weather conditions!
    Today's picture looks very end-of-Summer-like :)

    1. That hen is always giving me the eye - in fact most of them do that when a camera is nearby - I think they are as inquisitive as cats are when a camera lens is pointed at them!

I do agree that photo looks a bit more summery than it should, as it's hiding some of the bareness around the lake behind, but it's the same tree that is bare in the first photo. And it is so nice to have some sun! Thanks for visiting and commenting, Marie-Helene. :-)

  4. Hey there, Mandy. I don't know how many times I've had eggs crush in my jackets, usually immediately after they have come out of the wash... ugh :) Mine don't usually do the long drip down the pants though. Your chickens are looking great, are they all getting along now?

I've been trying to find a reader so I can start reading your blog again. I've missed you!

    1. Rain!! Hi :-) I've missed you too. Are you ever coming back to G+?

The reason the egg dripped down my leg is because I was wearing a waterproof jacket so it couldn't soak into it but obviously oozed out of the stitched seam of the pocket! :-) This is an old pic of the hens so the newbies are not in this pic but they get along fine now and the newbies are the pesky little ones under my feet all the time now. :-)

As for readers, I use Feedly as it was recommended after Google Reader was stopped. But I guess there are tons out there to choose from.

Please don't be a stranger and it's great to hear from you. Hope all's well with you.
